Meditech to begin clinical trials on Cold Sore (HSV) compound

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, June 5, 2001 -- announced today that they have signed an agreement with Boston University Medical Center, to begin clinical trials of their topical Cold Sore (HSV-1) compound.

The trials will compare Meditech's formula against one or more competitive products. Results, if positive, will be used to strengthen advertising and marketing claims and possibly to develop claims for a new patent application.

Several of our potential joint-venture partners have requested clinical data prior to making a final decision as to collaboration with us. Should the results of this study confirm what we have learned from earlier pre-clinical and anecdotal clinical trials, it could greatly enhance our negotiating position."
